Layers of Cerezales

Challenge or context: Fundación Cerezales Antonino y Cinia is located between the Porma river plains and oak-covered hills, within a rich ecological transition zone. The project asks how architecture can make the site’s hidden ecological processes visible and permanent, while creating spaces where researchers, artists and visitors can observe, study and share knowledge. Process: The proposal was developed through a site visit, research into the Foundation’s activities, and analysis of the building’s ecological context. The concept translates the site’s condition as an ecotone into three spatial layers: Subsurface, Surface and Atmosphere. Outcome / deliverable: Layers of Cerezales is an interior architecture proposal for a natural research and artist residency. The three layers support research and creation, collaboration and exchange, and observation and reflection. The project brings science, art and community together through a shared relationship with the landscape.
