The Unstable Game

The Unstable Game invites players to experience instability through balance, collapse, rebuilding, and collective interaction within a playable system. Developed from research into instability as both a personal condition and a contemporary social reality, the project emerges from the authors’ shared experiences of living with scoliosis and growing up in politically unstable environments. These experiences led to an exploration of instability across bodily, emotional, social, and political dimensions, while imagining the future becomes difficult. Inspired by stone-balancing traditions, roly-poly toys, and the adaptive movements of snowboarders, the game creates a small-scale space where unpredictability becomes playable. Through shifting conditions and fragile structures, players learn to adapt and have fun with instability.
